Marriage Supper of the Lamb and Armageddon
- Passage
- Revelation 19
- Taught
- June 29, 2025
Summary
Heaven rejoices that God’s judgments are true and just (19:1–5). The slides explain the word “Hallelujah” as the Hebrew “Hallel,” to praise, and “Yah,” a shortened form of Yahweh. They take from these verses that God’s justice is worth celebrating and that praise unites all God’s people, small and great.
In 19:6–10 the voice of a great multitude announces the marriage of the Lamb. The slides set the steps of an ancient Jewish wedding beside Christ’s relationship with the church, from the father’s choosing of a bride, the bride price and the covenant, through the cup of betrothal, the groom’s gifts and his return to prepare a place, to the wedding and supper. Takeaways: live with joyful anticipation, clothe yourself in righteousness, and let worship be your reflex.
In 19:11–21 Christ returns as Faithful and True on a white horse, followed by the armies of heaven, to strike down the nations with the sword of his mouth. The slides give a tribulation timeline and a table of passages on the second coming, and read the destruction of the beast and the false prophet, who are thrown into the lake of fire. They finish with a sequence of end-time events from the church age to the new heaven and new earth, and takeaways: trust Christ’s justice, live under his lordship now, let the Word shape your battle, don’t be deceived by worldly power, and be ready for his return.
